Circuit Court Clerk Jacqueline Smith held the 4th Annual Law Day Art Contest Award Ceremony on May 2nd, 2024, in the Judicial Center's third floor atrium, where several students were awarded prizes for their artwork. The annual contest combines civics and art, giving local students an interactive way to demonstrate decision-making and civil discourse.
The 31st Judicial Circuit Court has general trial court jurisdiction, including acting as an appellate court for the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, and is a separate and distinct branch of government. The Circuit Court decides the most serious cases, presiding over criminal, civil, concealed handgun permits, miscellaneous, and other cases.
