Planned Parenthood Action Councils are the volunteer army responsible for expanding our impact on the ground – they are local volunteer teams, made up of anywhere from 3-20 volunteers who help move campaigns and initiatives forward, and win local, state, and federal victories to advance the Planned Parenthood mission. Building up volunteer teams is a key tactic in our organizing strategy both locally and nationally, throughout the year we host Action Council trainings where volunteers learn how to build and maintain a strong team and win campaigns.
The Community Ambassador Program provides our volunteers with the opportunity to represent Planned Parenthood's education, advocacy, and health services as Planned Parenthood Ambassadors in their community! Throughout the year we host in-depth trainings where volunteers learn about our values and mission, services that we provide, advocacy campaigns, how to talk about safe sex and abortion, as well as community outreach best practices.
The Health Center Advocacy Program allows trained volunteers and interns to have the opportunity to educate, empower, and engage patients and visitors at the Planned Parenthood health centers to become advocates for their own health care. HCAP volunteers connect with patients in our health centers about volunteer and advocacy opportunities, legislative updates, and story sharing opportunities. This work allows us to uplift the voices of our patients and to center their experiences in our advocacy work as we fight back against attacks to our reproductive rights in Ohio.
Planned Parenthood Generation Action is a movement of young people across identities and issues that organizes with and for their generation in order to fight for reproductive freedom. Based out of high schools or college campuses, this program allows young leaders to self-organize in their communities, fight against abortion stigma, mobilize advocates and voters, educate their peers about sexual and reproductive health, and build an unstoppable movement for health and justice. The Generation Action vision is to create a reproductive rights movement led by the largest and most diverse generation of young people who are actively working to improve their world.
The PPAO Speakers Bureau is a program for those who want to use their personal story to advocate for reproductive rights. As a PPAO Speakers Bureau member, you will receive training on the reproductive rights landscape in Ohio, and how to use your story for advocacy, public speaking, and digital organizing.
